Save your receipts: The Quebec Provincial Government imposes a 7.5% tax on accommodations (TVQ) in addition to the 7% federal goods and services tax (TPS). When To Visit: Anytime of year! Depending on your motivation, Montreal has a great variety of activities for you to enjoy year-round. Winter: Winter ski packages are abundant in the land of snow-capped mountains and sleigh rides. The ski hills are so close to Montreal(20 minutes to 2 hours away) that you can ski all day long and return to Montreal for your night's stay. There are of course, many great ski resorts to stay at, should you choose to remain in the mountains overnight.
